Seton is a developing community located in Calgary’s far south. Over the past few years, it’s grown rapidly and is now known for blending residential living with commercial spaces, health services, parks, and recreation. It’s considered one of Calgary’s most thoughtfully planned communities, with a mix of urban and suburban features.

What makes Seton unique?
One of the standout features of Seton is the Brookfield Residential YMCA—the largest YMCA in the world. This massive facility offers everything from swimming and skating to fitness classes, community programs, and learning spaces. It’s a major hub for activity and plays a big role in shaping daily life for residents in the area.
How big is the community, and how many people will live there?
Seton is designed to accommodate around 17,500 residents. The community itself spans 577 acres, with 75 acres dedicated to park space. It’s built with the future in mind—room for families to grow, businesses to open, and green spaces to remain part of everyday life.
Are there schools in Seton?
Yes. Currently, there’s a high school—Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School—and more schools are planned, including public, Catholic, and French immersion options. In total, there will be five schools, making it a family-friendly area with strong educational access.
What is the Seton Urban District?
Seton includes an Urban District, a central area that mixes residential buildings with restaurants, offices, shopping, entertainment, and health services. It’s designed to give residents the feel of urban living while still being part of a suburban neighbourhood. The South Health Campus, one of Calgary’s most advanced hospitals, is also located here and plays a key role in the community.
What kinds of homes are available in Seton?
There’s a wide range of housing types available—from multi-family rentals and townhomes to single-family front garage homes. This variety is part of what makes Seton appealing to different kinds of residents, from young professionals to growing families.
What about parks, walkability, and community spaces?
Seton is designed to be walkable. Residents can get to schools, grocery stores, the YMCA, and healthcare facilities without needing a car. There are plenty of pathways, green spaces, and future amenities planned through the upcoming Seton Homeowners’ Association, which will include a splash park, hockey rink, tennis courts, and community events.
Is Seton still growing?
Yes—Seton is very much a work in progress, with new developments continuing to be added. As the area expands, so do the opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
